ok. Just one thing to consider: is it an off-the-shelf 2800 or one spec'd for your 4.8 and cam. Stall speed changes off of engine tq and a 4.8 with a moderate to large cam won't stall anything like a 5.3 or 6.0 with the same cam.

true..but even with a 5.13 gear he should get off the line good and prolly spin the tires pretty easy

i was talkn bout the vig2800 for ls1 fbody. i know its tighter behind the 4.8 but thatd what i want. thats also why i want so much gear. to make the converter tighter and able to lock up sooner.

there used to be a dyno of the vig2800 at yank. 97% efficency and its much lighter than the stock cvtr

Well the heavier vehicle will make it stall higher but the lower tq will make the stall lower...kinda offset. The converter lockup can all be determined by the tune. You can make a 4000 stall lock up whenever you want.

I agree. I will say that a high stall with factory type gears and factory lock-up tunes are dramatic but a 2800 stall in a stock 5.3 does good with the lock-ups raised a little. I've tuned one and it did well. Stock lockup was waaaay too early and seemed like it labored the clutch in the converter.

thats why i like the ls6 cam. also the sooner the converter gets locked up the better it is for mileage
