So I blew the trans in my truck will I have problems if I use one out of 2000 Silverado with a 4.3l? Mine has a 5.3l I know I have to swap converters.

 

I want to say the input shaft is different.

I am not sure if you can use a V8 LS convertor on a V6 trans.

 

I've got a V8 core behind the 4.3 in my 01. I did use a a V6 converter though.

 

But what year V8 core???

 

i've been told by my tranny guy that yes it would work with a ls converter but the v6 one has one less steel or clutch or something meaning it was weaker

 

whats the difference between a 4L60E and a 4L65E? for outside id i mean.

 

Ok, I read that you can tell a 4l65E by the bolt hole in the middle top of the bell housing. Taken someone hasn't switched bell housings I guess.

 

It's a later model LS core. Not exactly sure what year. Been in there for about a year now and the vast majority of the 4K miles it's made have been towing my boat back and forth hunting so I'm gonna say it works?

 

There is an LS based converter /input. And an LT converter /input. You can't swap the two without doing all 3. Here is why. The Bellhousings do interchange. The LS based trans is a half inch longer than your LT based 4l60e. The added length is all in the Bellhousing. I tried to swap them and found out the hard way. You can put an LS input drum, converter and Bellhousing on the LT trans, it will just be A Bit longer. So you can put LT parts in the LS trans and it will be shorter.

 

This is false information! There is no way to I.D. a 4L65E from the outside. The differences are internal.
