Default 4.10s with the new 6 speed?

Been looking around for some gears and although my 3.42s seem great looking for something a lil more to help my big truck get moving a lil faster. Im really looking for some 3.73s but found a 4.10 gear set for next to nothing and there brand new. Question is with my first gear being so low (6l80e) are 4.10s to low of a gear? Can someone with this setup chime in? Also my rear end is a the 8.625 10 bolt rear end, will all the 8.5/8.6 gear sets fit my truck?

As soon as my gears go in I'll tell you I just ordered mine on Thursday from rons. I should have them I'm Friday if everything goes good. I was doing the same research as you but I never found anything.

Thanks for the link I'm just gonna go ahead and go with 4.10s if I don't like them I'll just go with a smaller gear but they should work great

1st gear will get you 32mph at 6000rpm with the 4.03 1st gear and 4.10 gears with a 30" tire.

peace

I just got a 2011 Tahoe and would like to swap gears. Did I read correctly that your fuel mileage was improved by the 4.10 gear?

im running a 305/50/20 which I believe is a 32 inch tall tire so with 4.10s my first gear should be fine right?

dont be scared of the 1st gear. i shift mine at 6500, and it loves it! my rev limiter is set at 6900 and the truck pulled the WHOLE way to 6900 and if i was comfortable pulling it to 6900 id do it every track pass. im more comfortable with a 6500-6600 since its a stock 6spd and i dont want to buy another trans anytime soon

the 22mpg vs the 18.5 mpg is a compare of my old set up.
new set up:
6.2/6L80e/4:10s STOCK converter 21.5-22mpg at 70mph
city driving has been about 16mpg
vs
old set up
6.2/4L60e/4:10s/PI3600 18.5mpg-19 is the best it ever got at 70mph.
around city was more along the lines of 11-13mpg

my truck went 12.73 and 12.74 on my old set up, with the new set up it went 13.1, 13.2, 13.3 all the passes were at 106.x mph, and traction was an issue on the 13.3 and the rev limiter was at every pass. i dont mind giving up a few .tenths and gaining MPH plus a better DD.

my next project will be a little more on the extreme side as in a 76mm turbo
