BlackGMC put a shift point calculator in the Drivetrain section that lets you put in your tire size and gear size ind and it tells you what RPM and speed you are at in each gear.

Since I just bumped from 4.11 to 4.30 i have to say you'll love it. Buy Motive gears.

I also switched to a taller tire so I didn't really gain hardly any rpm at 65

go with 4.56s...i've had 3.23s, 3.42s, 3.73s, 4.10s and now 4.56s and they're by far my favorite...still getting near 20mpg...i look to achieve that goal with a taller tire and more work on the VE table

What does his gear selection have to do with the engines CI?

It's a truck. with 4.56 he'll be able to get off the line better and have more towing abilities and will also allow room for a larger cam with a stall to match.
