4.10 gears. help?
I have a 2001 Silverado with a 4.8. it has LT headers, SLP intake, and a tune. ive been told by multiple people the gears that I have are holding back my truck and that I should get 4.10s. I don't know much about gears, differentials, rear ends, etc. so any help would be greatly appreciated. what all would I need to get 4.10s?

What do you use the truck for??
Daily driver, weekend truck, racing???
If you don't mind higher cruise RPM and possible less gas mileage, going with 4.10's would be alright. If you plan to add more power later or switch setups you could go with a different gear ratio to help with that too, something like 3.90's is a good medium.
I'm sure anything is better than your factory 3.23's or 3.42 in that 4.8 truck.
If I was to swap gears, I'd get a whole new diff to get rid of the factory G80. Something like a trutrac/eaton locker or whatever, then you'll need the gear set aswell. Most can be bought with an install kit that includes new bearings and crush sleeve etc etc. If you don't know enough about how to put them together, you should contact a shop in your area that deals with these aftermarket installs.

Go 4.56s, you will love them and it will get that 4.8 in its power band easier. You could also throw in a mild stall converter like the one for a trailblazer to help it out.

I just bought a 2008 Silverado still basically factory right now but im bout to start upgrading, Its a daily driver, gonna run 32" tires and I do a little bit of towing, and I was gonna do 3.73 gears, cause I didn't wanna kill fuel economy but I've spoke with other people on here and I think i'm gonna go with 4.30's
