What about an RCSB 5.3 auto? 3.73, 3.90, or 4.10?

It all depends on what you're after... DD, moderate driving, or WW?

Send me an email. I've got a spreadsheet that calculates speed vs. rear gear vs. tire/wheel size. This has given me an idea as to what I'm goin with on my C10.

My Yukon (5.3L w/ 4L60E) came with 3.42s, and my calcs confirm. My C10 came with 2.73s, but am gonna go with 4.10s. RPMs with the Yukon's 3.42s dial in at 1800 (@ 70mph). At 78mph, it's right at 2000RPM. Having 4.10s in my C10 with the same drivetrain should put me at 2400RPM (@ 70mph). My C10 won't be driven on the daily basis, but maybe on my 50 mile (one-way) commute once or twice (at the most) per week. It'll definitely be my weekend warrior.

depends no your tire size, but the 5.3 is MUCH torquier than the 4.8

It doesn't need gear to stay alive. The 4.8 was all rev.

If you had a 4.10 gear in the 5 speed it would be like having a 5.10 gear in the 4L60E, first gear comparison. I didn't pull those #'s out my ***, those are calculated. I personally thought that the 3.73's were fine with my stock 4.8 and 31.5" tires. Any shorter tire and it would have been way too low of a gear. Now my 3.73's just suck!

5th is just .82 in the Tremec TR-3450 but it is around .7 in the NV3500. The .82 is just another reason to not go with a really low gear.

Well on mine, i have the 5.3 with the 4l60e and 3.42 and my current tires are 275/60/16 Toyo's.

I am about to be running 265/35/22's though. What would be a good gear for either?
