Use this website to figure out what gear and rpms you want to run.
http://www.csgnetwork.com/multirpmcalc.html
4.56s would put you at 2275 at 70mph, which might drop your mpg some on the highway. but if it's just a weekend driver, then I'd go with the gear your going to feel the most from, and that would be 4.56s...

I went from 3.23s with a 275/45/20 to 4.10s & noticed a big difference. I've got a stock 4.8 with a few bolt ons. My truck will actually get out of it's own way now. Went from around 1700 RPMs @ 70 to 2100 RPMs. The guy that I had install the TrueTrac & 4.10s said I probably could have went with 4.56s & been alright.

IMO, at highway speeds I wish I would have went with 3.73s, but I don't do that much highway miles so I'm good.

This is just an FYI as to my experience with switching gears.

By that calculator, if I put 4.30's in with the 4l65e and 30" tires I'll be 21XX rpm's at 65mph. Anybody have 4.30's with a 275/45/20 that can tell me about rpm's around 55 and 75? Thanks.

Reviving a very old thread... hopefully... I have a Silverado 5.3 stock. I currently have 3.42 gears. My wheels are currently stock 20". I am going to be putting on new stock 22" wheels. Tire size will be 285 45/R22, which I believe is a 32" tire.

I drive mostly in the city and hwy. I do some occasional pulling of a trailer. Has anyone here run 4.10 gears with that tire size? So far the only feedback I've received is that I don't have to run 4.10s with that tire size, which is great but I would still like to know if anyone has and how they like it.

Thanks.

My truck is a 2010 ext cab 2wd. I don't know how much it will cost. I changed gears (and trans from 350 to 700r4) once in a an old camaro from 3.08 to 3.73 and it made a noticeable difference...

Long tube headers and a custom tune would give you 2x the gains IMHO

Quick Reply: 3.73's to 4.10's or 4.30's
