2wd 4l80e to 4wd
can you use a 2wd 4l80e to do 60e to 80e conversion in a 4wd? i was guessing just a take off the tail shaft. but what do you bolt in the place of it? the little center chunk thats between my 60e and t-case? some help here please lol.
*edit* ok i did some more research and found that the tail shaft and output shaft have to be replaced. well i was going to have to replace the output shaft anyway to be able to keep my odd ball awd t-case. but as far as the tail shaft will the 4l60e tailshaft work or are they diff bolt pattern?

None of the tailhousing parts from the 60 will interchange with the 80.
Changing the output shaft requires a full tear-down. 2WD have a reluctor ring on the output carrier assembly that can stay there, you just won't be using the rear speed sensor in the trans body in a 4WD/AWD application. You'll need the tailshaft housing/adapter for the transfer case.
Output splines are different on 60vs80-E. Look to the SS guys for info on adapting the 80-E to that transfer case.
