Default 26" Tire Performance?

I know im beating this to death but, i was chatting with some other guys about my setup and i just want to make sure its going to be worth it for me to put 26" tires on my truck for the track.

My setup (If you call it that)

5.3
4.10's with G80
intake, exhaust cut out and a tune

now, previously, on my old 3.73's, i ran a 10.00 1/8 and a 15.50 1/4 at 89 mph.

My question is, What ball park figure (time reduction) should i expect from not only going to 4.10's but dropping down to a 26" tall tire as well? (.5?)

Please Keep in mind that i have a G80 and i dont want to spray it all over the track with the slicks. Sooo, what i was thinking was goin with a lower profile design tire that will satisfy the diameter im looking for that is relatively cheap and wont blow my poor G80 to smiterines...

Please let me know if i am wasting my time with getting 26" tires

You guys rock

thank you

as opposed to a 33"?

id say you DEF dont have the gearing to be running a 33 at the track, i would drop down to a 26" slick. btw i wouldnt worry bout blowing your G80 wit your mods... i have a LS1 with a stall and 3.73s and i run 26" MT ET Street radials and i beat the **** outta my G80, granted i gotta scrap the G80 now cause im steppin up to a 4k stall and a built trans.

but ya i woudl say run a 26" tire, youll see a pretty big difference coming from a 33"

The only thing I would be concerned with is the effects on shift points if you are tuned for 33" tires.

actually my tune is really for 30.1" tires i just havent gotten a retune for the 33's or the 4.10 now that you mention it. I dont know why it would matter what tire its tuned for other than speedo errors, the truck still has the same shift points as it did before. I just dont want to blow a bunch of money on tires and not see any gains over my previous times. (15.50 on 30.1" tire on 3.73's)

because honestly, unless i see a half second gain from both the gears and the tires, i am going to be dissapointed.

it just seems like to much work for a nearly stock pick up.(I/E/T)

Trust me, I understand how much money it takes to go fast. i also think I picked the right hobby...Theres a difference between wanting to spend money and actually having the money to spend.... I just dont want to go through the trouble of getting new rims and new slicks just to run a tenth or two quicker. I would much rather save my money and put into something thats worth modding other than a 5000lb brick.

The more and more i think about it, it just dosent seem like its worth the trouble. My money could be better spent elsewhere.

thanks anyway

eh, my 26" e/t streets spin when i shift into 2nd I heat them up really good before i launch. i dont even spin at launch. i'm thinking it may be line pressure is too high. other than that, im satisfied with my 26" e/ts.
