I know for certain it has the lower 1st gear 6.34-1 and a non synchronized 1st and reverse which would really suck. If the slave is not mounted on the input shaft then it is wrong.

if you feel like just biting the bullet on a reman instead of gambling on a pull-out, i bought mine from High Gear in Memphis, and i believe Dan got his from Midwest Trans in MN.

yeah... but i'd still have to do the front. and i'd probably have to buy another LSD carrier.

and maybe i was wrong on the 1/2 ton 5speeds getting the HD t-case...
i just looked it up to make sure i wasn't spreading misinformation, and it appears they list a few different part numbers for the NP261:
  • 24228419 = 1/2 ton with NV3500 (replacing 24238190)
  • 24238189 = 1/2 ton with 4L60
  • 24228435 = HD with NV4500 and 4L80

pretty sure there was a couple versions of the np261 the light duty and the HD and the super heavy duty one I think, the light duty just has a smaller chain and bearings from what I can figure out. I found someone with a 97 NV4500 core for me, and I have a couple good trans shops around me I might see how much they want to rebuild it. I did some more research in the NV4500 the 96-2007 GM are all the same.

yep, that sounds familiar. i just remember the square-shifter lids used on the OBS trucks (95-00) are 1 3/4" from the mounting surface to the bottom of the notch in the shift rail, and the NBS (01-06) lids are 2" deep. that's why the shifter bases are different (longer fulcrum inside the newer ones). but the different lids can interchange onto whichever transmission core you use.

thinking I can get that core for 100-150$ he offered 200$ with Bellhousing. No idea how much it’s gonna cost to get rebuilt. Have a thought on an estimate? Looks like the kit is about 300$

no clue... i bought a reman.
i do remember when i was replacing the clutch a few years ago, i weighed a rebuild vs reman on the 3500 & it was within $100-150 after counting their labor... so i just did a reman then, too. i'd call up a couple of the trans shops & get quotes for multiple options.
