Default 2000 driveshaft questions

I have a 2000 RCSB with an 80 swapped in. It is currently SBE 5.3 Procharged but I sold it and plan to LS2 and twin turbo it. My goal power range is 700 to 1000. I need to know what ttpe of drive shaft I need and how crucial it is I update. If it matters it will live on a drag pack

I would say a 3in thick walled driveshaft will more than handle the power you want to make.

When my driveline exploded it was secondary to failure of a stock style u joint (greaseable joint) - no good. Solid U joints are a must. I had it rebuilt with 3.5" steel and spicer 1350s.

Your best bet is to talk with a driveshaft specialist.

1350 U joints are a must.

Just remember.

If your DS breaks, it can damage your trans and/or rear end.

01 Z71 ECSB, Does It have the 1350 series joint size? Getting ready to order a new driveshaft and was wondering if I will need to order a pinion yoke to use the 1350 series joint.

Yes. We had this happen with a G8 recently. DS failed. Shattered the 4L80 transmission case and ripped the back ear off the LSx iron block where the transmission mounts. Result was new DS, new 4L80 with Reid case, engine rebuilt with new LSx block. Quite costly!
