I installed a set of 2" lowering hangers on my Silverado Tuesday and all I can say is WOW!!!
The handling went WAYYYYYYYYY up. I drove to Prescott Wednesday afternoon, set the cruse on 90MPH the entire way, and ever turn felt flat (never once did I feel I was even close to the trucks limit)! Before, if I had made that trip, 75MPH would have felt scary. Even the ride quality seems to be better (my truck has the "hauling package" on it so stiff springs)! Not to mention the truck looks better (though I miss the rake).
Next I plan to:
- convert the front end to Bilstein ASN series coilover shocks (same thing LG uses on their F-body G2 Coilover kit....have this on my Camaro) and take 1.5" out of the front....I want to get the rake back in the truck...
- add a sway bar to the rear and put a larger one on the front
In short, VERY HAPPY!!!!! GOOD MOD!!!!!!!!

2" is not a lot to come down in the rear.
I too don't see handling dramatically increasing just from this.
Maybe 2" shackles with 2" hangers and better shocks.
Another item that increases handling is aftermarket front and rear sway bars.
It's really what you want your truck to do. For drag racing, adding sway bars is just added weight.
If you care more for handling, then sway bars would be the way to go.
I did a 2" front drop, 3" rear drop, and Belltech Nitro shocks and did not notice all that much more handling characteristics.

What you guys seem to be missing is that a 2" drop is still 2" of drop....
This brings the CG down lower in the rear and thus closer to the roll axis of the suspension. Couple with the fact that I have some REALLLLLY stiff springs in the back, it is now harder for the CG to cause deflection of the springs and thus less body roll results.
No I'm not saying this thing is at all close to "high performance handling" here but in comparison to what it WAS, it IS better. I can go around a corner somewhat faster and not lift/spin the inside rear tire near as bad (and I'm hitting the corner harder/faster).

I noticed a bit of a difference in my ride as well with my 2 in shackles. Not much, but enough to make me happy. I have a wheel out of balance in the front that I could feel the worst at 60, now with the drop it's barely noticeable. Still gettin it into an alignment shop next week. I miss the rake too though, need to drop the front a little now

So hangers drop the truck too? What's the difference in hangers and shackles?? I'm looking into the 1" - 2" shackles (belltech), and definetly need new shocks (kyb or bilsteins).
Also what does rake mean?
Sorry n00b to this terminology...
