I have an extra set of springs from my old truck and want to put them on my new truck, but i want to cut them to get around a 2" drop. i already have spindles on it but want it lower to the pavement
how much do i cut to get the 2" drop from the springs ?

cut springs is just a bad idea from a physics point of view. do what you want, man, but i'd totally recommend against it.
do some drop LCA's or something before you starting running around on cut springs.

Plenty of people have done it. They're no different than a drop spring. It's a common misconception that they will ride shitty. It will be no worse than a drop spring. It should be 1 coil=2"

well, i know people who say they cut it, and rode like ****, and others who have cut and rode the same or a bit stiffer.... on my last truck i had beltech 3" drop springs and the ride was pretty rough, alot stiff which made bumps feels terrible, but was nice when cornering cuz it didnt sway so much. also have read that cuttin the spring does change the spring rate but not a whole lot. remember... i have an extra set, so no harm will be done except my labor put into cutting, and installing, and possibly re-installing drop springs if the ride is that bad

why do they cut the springs in overhaulin every time chip is not happy with the height ??? i dont think he would cut just for looks.. .he has to know that the ride wil maintain its quality

i hae friends that have cut their coils and from what i have seen, as long as you dont cut more than 1.5 coils or so the ride quality wont change much, anything over 1.5 coils will ride pretty crappy
