1998 4l80e

Thanks for the info James. That's valueable stuff there to know/have access to.
I wonder if FLT can use this 98 case for anything then and make it live up to their name. Hell, I'd probably be fine even with their level 3 build... What about vacuum modulation on the 80s? I haven't heard too much about it. I love it on my 65E and would want it on this new trans if possible.
I basically want the same "feel" but added strength and peace of mind. Even now, when I see my boost guage climb my trans is in the back of my mind. Its time that feeling went away.
Where are ya at Vince/Chuck???????

Well I have found a solid 4L80E core to start my swap with. The unit itself has low miles but it just had its 10th birthday and its 100% stock and in good working order. Is this year one of the transmissions we've been upgrading to around here?
At the very least I'm going to take it to a local shop and have it gone thru and a shift kit and better frictions put in. But if my funds are right, it will be sent to FLT for their level 4 build. Vince, I know we talked about this not too long ago but what could you do this build for using this core? Gimme a call or a PM, I've had a ton of mess iin my brain with working 90+hrs a wk and putting together a motor build on top of that.
What have some of you guys done with your 80E builds/swaps? This thing will be behind the new motor in my sig with about 15psi. Shooting for as close to 700rwhp as I can get...

I personally would use a 99 and later case to mate it with a LSX engine. The 99 allows you to use more bolts when installing the trans. Also you can use an inspection cover that can be bolted to the engine oil pan for added strength. We could use the guts from that unit in the later case. The last case I bought was a little over $200 IIRC. I do have a couple things in the works to make that level 5 a bit stronger for you if you decide to stay with the 60. I do remember you saying that your truck was lighter than some but the 80 would definitely be a good choice. Vince

Its lighter than most but its still no featherweight at 4500 street trimmed and race weight at about 4000-4100ish since the turbo kit, I haven't weighed it again yet...
Do you think you can make that level 5 65/70 live behind 375ci and 15psi???
If I were to keep a 60E variant I'd for sure go with a larger multi disk converter... This yanks been tough but I know it has limits.
