Default 18,000 gvw tranny cooler

From what I've been reading, 18,000gvw seems a bit small. I don't think that my truck has one at all. So should I even bother installing this one?

It's better than nothing, but I would get a bigger one. I have I think a 26,000 gvw Long Tru-Cool along with the stock cooler. It does ok but I kind of wish I would have gone bigger.

The only reason I'm considering installing it is because I got it for free.

if its free it way better than nothing. its probably bigger than the stock one anyway so i'd use it. i got a free one from a freind when i had the silverado so i threw it right on there. i also did like gm did and keep it running through the radiator. i went into rad out of rad into cooler and back to trans. i think lol, because i wasn't sure which was which top or bottom.

i got mine at a local parts store that specialized in transmissions. the place is called transtar. but you can get them almost anywhere that they sell performance parts. you can even get them on ebay!!

im using a 22,500 GVW cooler with external fan, it works great

if its all you can afford then throw it on- every little bit helps. if you have an extra 150$ id suggest the one im using

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

also in a warm climate mount it after it passes through the rad- in a colder climate mount it befor the rad, if you live up north and you mount a trans cooler after the radiator the fluid stays pretty thick when it gets real cold out
