Default 14bolt rearend owners come on in

here's the scoop. got an 06ss with the 14bolt. unlike the 10 and 12 bolt rearends i was used to this one did not have a fill plug on the front half/side of the pumpkin but instead had a combination drain/fill plug much like the 9.25 dodge rearend in the middle of the diff cover itself.

so i now have a ta performance cover which looks and performs great but it has a seperate drain plug on the bottom and a fill plug at the top. (in other words no way to check the fluid level!)

according to TA the rearend that the cover was mocked up on had the traditional type fill plug on the side.

anyone else run into this problem? im stumped and so are the manufacturers. i hate guessing at how much fluid to put in with the larger capacity cover.

Typically with differentials, you fill it up to the fill plug and that is it. So if the TA Cover has the fill plug in a similar location as stock, you can use that as your fill point.

TA should know this!

the ta covers arent that way. and they mocked there's off a 14 bolt that had the hole on the diff itself. they have seperate drain and fill plugs. you wouldnt go by that normally as gm has the fill plug on the side of the pumpkin. apparently there was a change maybe in 06 to get rid of the fill on diff itself and go with one on the diff cover like dodge rearends.

ill manage, just drill a hole in the cover somehow and weld a nut on the inside like the stock cover.
