Why not just get a 9" built to fit? It's only like $1400

foose04 , let me shine a little light on the 14 bolt 9.5 for you. This should address all your questions about measurements, what is required to make it fit under your truck, and the disc brake swap using factory parts.

https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...thread-467473/

When Set up correctly, the 14 bolt will hold up just fine. The one I built that Pat put under his truck took 600RWHP on Slicks. Keep in mind this was a Supercharged set up. The same truck and set up that sheared the teeth off the ring gear in the original 10 bolt. To my knowledge the new owner still has the 14 bolt under the truck and was trying to get more power out of the truck. The one under Julien's truck is taking a beating as well...

I think currently, Atomic has put the most power through a 14 bolt 9.5'' set up.

A properly built Ford 9" will run you $3500 all day long. You can cut corners on them and save money but in the end, you will end up braking parts and spending more money.

After reading through the swap thread I still have a question. Could you swap in obs 14 bolt 6 lug shafts in a new axn 14 bolt housing? I got one dirt cheap but the shafts are bent and was wondering if those would fit or if I needed to order some custom ones.

Dont think so...the shafts would be too short and I think the bearing journal area is smaller. Brick is the expert on the subject, Dr.X as well.

3.73

I actually wouldnt mind going to 3.23s but the lowest they make for the front is 3.42 and thats not worth it IMO.

To answer your question, No.

For one, the bearing journal is larger on the OBS axle shafts.

Second off the OBS shafts are slightly shorter and would throw off the brake offset.

You can buy New axles for the AXN style but NO one makes custom axles for the OBS trucks. That Shaft is too large at the bearing journal. Only 1 company said they would do it and they wanted $800 for 1 set of bare axles. That's more than my custom Race car axle's with studs cost.

I had axles custom made for my AXN housing for around $300 there around 10%-15% stronger than the original OEM axles for almost 1/2 the price.
