14 bolt semi float 8 lug 6 lug, are they the same?
#21
Installed the 2wd OBS 2500 14 bolt this past weekend along with relocating the shocks. Note this housing is 2" per side shorter than the NBS 10 bolts.
Was planning to use the drum brakes during the swap but as you can see in first pic the backing plate flange fell out right next to the leaf which won't allow drum brake backing plate to fit. I had two 14 bolts to get this one so cut the flanges off the spare housing to mount the factory 10 bolt discs. 1fastbick, it sucks you no longer sells those flanges. That was the worst part of the swap. Wound up leaving the original backing plate flange in place to help in lining up the housing to weld the perches in. Will probably cut them out next time the housing is out. It was so tight between the flange and leaf that I grinded a flat on the sides of the ubolt to give a little wiggle room.
Bought 1.5" spacer to mount factory wheels temporarily knowing I still need to get my rally wheels sandblasted and some tires. Now hoping the S10 calipers work out to fit the 15 x 8 truck rally. Looking at pics of a S10 caliper it looks like only minimal grinding will be needed with the 4" bs on the rally wheel. Plan on grinding enough to use a 5" bs wheel in the future. Already grinded the front calipers to fit the more rare 15 x 7 rally up front.
Ignore my welds the ugliest welds can be the strongest .
