Default 14 bolt question.

Ok need a little info. I cant seem to find a straight answer. I have a 06 silverado 10bolt that's busted. I found a 99 z71 classic. It has a 6lug 14bolt from the factory. Will this be a direct bolt in using my brakes and with a u joint swap? Thanks in advanced fellas!

It has been documented several times on this site.

If it's from an OBS GMT400 4x4 truck, it will be 1/2 in shorter on each side, and as mentioned the spring perches will need to be moved inward.

If it's from a 2WD leave it behind. It will be 1 1/2 inches shorter on each side and may pull the wheels in too much.

Actually I wanted to know where he sourced the rear end. I seem to have bad luck.

Found it @ a local bone yard with 90k miles. Now the problem is a universal joint. Looking for a part # for one. The truck is a 05 crew cab 2wd with a 1piece aluminum drive shaft. Ive researched the sticky thread on here since i started the project. The part stores cant seem to find a universal joint that fits.

According to Atomic's thread:

U-Joint:
- If your driveshaft is a 1330 (I have the big aluminum one which is a 1330 with the 1.0625" caps), then you need a 1330 to 1350 conversion U-joint which I could only find on Jegs
- If your driveshaft is a 1310, you need the 348 conversion U-joint (1310 to 1350)
- If your driveshaft is an R3 SS4, you need the 447 U-Joint (ss4 to 1350)
- For most people, im guessing the ones with the two piece steel driveshafts, you need the 447.
