Is there any reason this trans won't be compatible for my 03 half ton aside from being the regular 60e to 80e swap? Found it through a wrecker, but computer says only compatible for 06' model vehicles whereas other years are interchangable. its out of a 06' savana 3500 2wd.

That's news to me. I know there were some internal changes to the pump and the case but that really does not concern you for install purposes. Get some pic's of the unit. Vince

Well, the 06' 80e i was looking into arrived the other day, everything seems to look good, and oil left in pan was clean. Started fabbing on the rear support. Can the old shift selector/neutral safety switch that slides over the shaft be used with this trans? Any recommendations on shift kits? i have heard transgo, and b&m.. Any tuning tips would be appreciated, i've heard that increasing line pressure is actually more of a problem then a solution. Are there some general parameters a guy should stick to or stay away from when fooling with these?

thanks in advance

Had to chop up my exhaust and shorten portions before the Y

you dont have the whole truck jacked up by the oil pan, do you?

Otherwise, that trans looks very clean. No reason I see why it shouldnt work. I believe transgo HD2 is the shift kit of choice.

I just jacked the engine up a bit to get the right angle for the exhaust and support fabbing. The truck is on jackstands lol. So what about the neutral switch? it looks different on the 80e, i've just never pulled the connector off the stock one, it seems to be glued on there.. i've heard of heating it, but if i can just use the old one, great!

Also i was wondering, is the truck totally dead without a segment reflash, or will it have a manual gear. I have to get it hauled to a city about an hour and a half away for the programming. Can a guy drive it onto a car hauler or will i have to drag it on?

I know you can switch your 60e on on there, but I've heard of people having connection problems or something with the glue and all that and removing it cleanly. I'll probably just by a new 60 e NSS for my 80e, they're pretty cheap

Get a new switch. it's worth it IMO so you don't have to go back, and dig under there again.

I was told that you can slide yours on and not need to disconnect the wire.
