Default 02 gmc sierra rearend questoin?

ok so me and my friend are in this arguement and he does not seem to believe me... his gf has a 02 sierra and it has a towing package, i know when you get that it comes with the 3.73's in it and some other little stuff... but he thinks it has a locker, posi, lsd... it is a 2wd truck, the reason he thinks this is cause it makes a clunk while spinning the tires, but i hear it coming from around the bell housing area... he thinks this cause he has heard they come with it... anyone want to answer this question and end this arguement...

Look in the glove box for G80
That's the code for a locker

I'd say not true, I have an 02 sierra 4.8 2wd with the tow package and it has 3.42 and its a one tire fire, but not for long.

The only way to tell for sure what it was Originally equiped with is to look up the codes on the glove box. There called RPO codes. Look for these codes

G80= Positraction Limited Slip
GU5=3.23
GU6=3.42
GT4=3.73
GT5=4.10

It varies really. I have geared a number of 2wd Chevy's with factory lockers.

i don't think anybody's sayin they didn't have them... i've personally looked at a 2wd ECSB with a factory G80 in a non-tow package truck.

just typically, unless you (or the dealer) specified you wanted the G80, a 2wd didn't have one, to the best of my knowledge

hmm.... I could have sworn the person in question posted a response today?

G80 with 3.73's was the consensus.
