Exclamation 02 Denali wont steer easily to one direction

I have an issue that I have read some on, but with no definite luck answering. My wife's denali decided to stop steering easily to the left. Said differently, it acts like there is no power steering to one direction, and full power steering to the other. Obviously it is not the pump, otherwise both directions would be difficult. Has anyone either experienced this or figured out what the most likely problem is? Any direction would be appreciated.

Thanks,

JP

Check the driverside wheel bearing to see if it's coming unglued.

there should be an actuator on the power steering pump. The actuator consists of a thingy which moves in and out of an orifice which will regulate power steering fluid flow. I guess this is called a EVO system (electronic variable orifice) I dont know much about it, just maybe something to look up andread about. good luck

That's a bad steering gear.

When the EVO steering valve sticks, you either get way too much assist all the time, or not enough assist all the time. Will not be different left to right.

I have an 02 Denali and while my front doesn't have difficulty steering to just 1 side, I hear a clank when I turn sometimes like the CV axle or ball joints are slipping. Thinking about replacing my CV axles. I need to replace the upper and lower control arms too, it's 16 years old now. I'm praying it isn't anything in that transfer case up front cause that sounds expensive. I replaced my wheel bearings a while back.
