Default Drag rim backspace

I know this has been discussed numerous times and I hate to beat the dead horse but I am need in more tire out back and am wanting to go with a 15x10" Weld S77 HD wheel with the deadlock. The Weld rep was no help as far as fitment so I am reaching out to all of you out there that know more than me on rim fitment. This will be going on my 05 1500 which is dropped and covers a good inch or more of the top of the rear tire so whatever I get must tuck. I also have a four link so there are no leaf springs to fight for space. The Weld S77 HD is offered in two backspacing....a 6.5 and a 7.5. I am thinking the 6.5 is cutting it close if I want to fit anything bigger than a 275 tire. The main question is will the 7.5 backspace give me enough room to run something like a 315 with no rubbing. I like my truck dropped and don't want to have to raise the *** end to accommodate a drag set-up. Thanks in advance to anyone who can share some insight on this or is even running this combo.

6.5" BS could work but would require rolled fenders and a tire without much sidewall bulge. My Racestars are 6-5/8" BS and do not rub on a 6" rear drop with a 295/65/15 Hoosier DR and rolled fenders. IIRC there was ~3/4" to the leafspring with this setup. I have not fit them up with the Ridetech 3-link but I presume there would be ~1/2" extra clearance due to the narrower link bar. Using that math, a 7.5" BS would fit with ~1/4" of clearance.

Is your 4 link adjustable? Dialing in some extra anti-squat would help with not getting the tire in the fender on launch if clearances are close.

Thanks BigKid. My truck is a few inches lower than yours so the tires are already in the fenders to start with. My link bars are on the inside of the frame so I think that will give me more room for clearance. I just want to make sure I won't rub the fenders and yes my set-up is adjustable so I can tune it a bit more

In your case the wheel tubs will be the limiting factor. You could always go with the 7.5" bs and use spacers if they are in too far. If you are planning to use a 315/60/15, it will likely work out well with the deeper back space.

thanks again. I didnt consider spacers if needed. I may cut the wheel tubs and bed over the axle to allow more travel so this may work out.
