Also, best to use OEM style plastic corrugated tube. That also would have averted this failure.

Racetronix has it in varying lengths. Also much cheaper than gates submersible.

 

I've had two failures with the Gates hose, and they both looked just like yours. The second time I used the crimp clamps. I don't understand why some guys never have problems with Gates submersible, and others have it swell and tear like mine did.
Corrugated plastic only for me from now on.

 

All the failures i have seen posted the hoses were bent, that is i kept mine straight as possible.

 

Mine were straight, and occurred at the clamp. I know, user error, right? I don't think so. Both times, the hose went from a firm, quality looking material, to having a similar consistency to cured silicone. In other words, swelled and soft. It seems like a regional problem, except Pat not having problems ruins my North having problems vs. South being OK theory.

 

I'm farther north than Pat! And no problems here either.

 

I did notice that the other hoses were very soft. Looking in to the plactic hose from racetronix

 

It absolutely has to be related to a geographic location. Haha
