Default Hot Wire kit???Boost a pump??? ???

Got to thinking this morning and wanted to get some other peoples opinions. I am usually the one to do something right the first time and not have to worry or mess with it later and with my future mods planned I was thinking if a boost a pump or hot wire kit or something else might be beneficial or just a nice piece of mind/added insurance.

I have a 2011 GMC Sierra with 6.2L. I installed a Procharger D1 with 3 core intercooler and was previously running FAST 65lb/hr injectors that I was maxing out the IDC and having to lower my shift points. At this time that was all that was done. Truck was stock except the Procharger setup and a performance muffler, all else stock. I was seeing around 12lbs at WOT.

So fast forward to current times. The truck had a slight mishap and the motor is out and being rebuilt. Below is the new parts and goals.

  • Forged Pistons and rings 4.070" (stock is 4.065") new pistons will put static compression at 10.1:1 which will be boost friendly
  • 1.8 Yellow Terra Roller Rockers
  • ARP Pro Series Head Stud Kit
  • Valvesprings / pushrods / hardened locks
  • Custom Speced Cam by Pat G 218/234 .596/.610 117 LSA +3 WITH 1.8 ROCKERS
  • Circle D billet 258mm multi-disc 2C
  • Injector Dynamic ID850 Injectors
  • LS2 cam gear, bolts and timing cover
  • NGK BR7EF plugs

We are looking to eventually have the boost in the mid teens with all the new parts.

So my question is right now besides the bigger injectors my fuel system is all stock. I don't know how far my stock fuel pump will take us and I don't really want to find out the hard way.

So will my stock pump still be fine with all the new plans or should I get a hot wire kit or a boost a pump or something else???

Pros/Cons to different options?? Who is running what on the GMT900 trucks??

Thanks for the help guys

What is the stock fuel pump equivelent to? If 255 or so it wont cut it.

I was right at the lean point with my walbro 255/ stock wiring. ( 11.8 ish AFR)

Installed the aeromotive 340lph and the Racetronix hotwire kit and my AFR dropped to 10-10.4 AFR @ WOT roughly 12-13 psi.

I say call and talk to Lonnie at Lonnies perf. He knows GM fuel systems.

But im not sure if you need to add a second pump off of a hobbs switch like most of the returnless guys. I am return style system.

I don't know what the stock pump is equivalent to, not even sure where to check that (call gm??). I will give Lonnie a call and see what they think/recommend. I would like to get away with just pumping more juice to my stock pump but I guess that depends what it is currently rated at now.

Just for the sake of info, his truck is returnless, and is FlexFuel.

I think the stock pump will go quite a ways, but I don't know the limits of it at all. I believe it does have the fuel pump control module, not sure what that means as far as being able to mod the fuel pump system.

My thoughts were to moniter fuel pressure and duty cycle at the higher boost levels with the new injectors. Add a boost-a-pump if the pump seems to be falling short. Not too sure about running a A340 or equivalent in a returnless system, I don't think that will work out favorably.
