Injector Dynamics website suggests to have the filter near the rails because they know we are going to use a POS rubber line from the tank. The article also says to use teflon or hard line after the filter to minimize contaminating the injectors with debris from deteriorating lines.

I had been trying to envision a way to incorporate a surge tank when I read that article. I thought "Perfect! My fuel filter has two inlets and two outlets".

The filter acts as a junction block. The two outlets feed two -8 lines going into the rear of the fuel rails. One inlet has a -6 fitting for the supply from the stock tank, and the other inlet is presently plugged. I will replace the plug with a -8 fitting fed from the surge tank, when I get around to making one.

The rest of the future part of the setup is that the return line will be moved from the outlet of the regulator (at the front of the manifold in the pic) to the outlet of the surge tank, and the outlet of the regulator will feed the surge tank.

How is this for what looks like a mini refinery on top of my manifold?

 

Looks like you have to undo the hard lines to get the fuel filter off?

 

There is a lot going on, but it does look cleanly done. My filter is on my frame, but I also used all PTFE lines, zero rubber.

The filter is a canister that unscrews just like an oil filter

 

I feel silly for asking this, but where is a how-to on making these hard lines with AN fittings? Also, I didn't see anything in my first search, where did you get the tubing?
