Aeromotive 340

Aeromotive 340
I've read that there are possible problems with the aeromotive 340 pump, anyone care to elaborate ? I've heard nothing but have one in my tank . Should I be concerned?

My pump was my secondary on a hobbs switch, it lasted an amazing 8 months b4 it crapped out. A walbro now sits in its place working great. I have read of a few other guys with similar issues with them taking a **** in a short period of time. I would keep a backup at home just in case.

A friends truck switched his pump and now the truck wont crank!
Im not blaming the pump but the truck is useless right now, he has tried almost everything possible

I had mine for less then 5 months. It was cooler out when I dropped it in. Then it started to get hot out. And my problem started. It would seem to vapor lock. The pump would get so hot that I would just shut down! I wouldnt trust one even as a second pump on a Hobbs. I found walbro 400 cheaper then the aero 340.
I recently switched from return less to return style. Added a aero regulator. First I had just the aero 340 in the tank. And my problem still happened. Pump over heated. I dropped in a walbro 255 and have had no problems.
With the aero 340 I would watch fuel pressure drop to 40-45 psi while on 10psi
When I switched to the walbro 400 I would see fuel pressure drop to 50 psi while on 12psi.
For anyone thinking about a aero 340 I would highly recommend not getting it. Buy a walbro 400 and if your on E85 they have a walbro set up for E85.

Do you have a Hotwire kit? Just wonder if that was part of your issue?

mine just went out the other day.it lasted about 5-6 months with less than 1k miles on them(i have dual intank)i called jegs yesterday and they told me to ship them back and they will refund my money.

i have a 340 now in my truck on have about 4-600 miles on it but i would like to have the walbro 400 as a back up thanks
