Default 99-02 fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator block off plate/plug. Where can I buy one?

Here are a few examples.

That came from this thread:

Then there's this one.

That came from this thread:

I'd like to do what was done in both those threads. I searched around trying to find something that'd work. Surprisingly hard to find. Here's what I came up with and I don't know if any of these are the correct size.

These look promising, but are meant for Corvettes. I don't know which one would be the correct size, or if they'd work at all.

Does anyone on this site make these or know where I can find one? I'd rather not deal with aftermarket fuel rails unless I have to.

Thanks!

On the left the factory part from 2000, on the right the part from NAPA.

A closer look at the factory part.

In case you were curious how big the hole is that's returning fuel.

And if you were interested in making a plug/bypass.

I can't find a reliable source for a billet bypass plug and I wanted to know how the factory regulator worked, so...

I cut the return part out by cutting the holes with cutters. Then I pushed the center piece to the side and cut the diaphragm out with an exact-o knife. Finally, I pulled everything apart.

Here's the gist.

Now that the regulator is useless, I needed to plug the vacuum port. So I crimped it and filled it with solder.

I'm sure it's clear how this all works now, but just in case it isn't.

Now, I can still fit the screen in there, so I went ahead and put it in there and installed my soldered hollowed out regulator.

Unregulated fuel pressure:

I have been told over and over that the factory fuel pressure regulator will be fine on the Walbro 400 pump. That's the reason that I chose the 400 over the 450. I have also found that there is a difference between the flex fuel return setup and the non flex fuel setup. Apparently the flex fuel setup is slightly larger on the return side, which makes sense.

So, I'm thinking that if you have a flex fuel truck, maybe the Walbro 400 is fine on the factory setup? If that is the case, if may be cost effective to swap over the flex fuel fuel rails. I have decided to go with an external fuel pressure regulator adapted to my factory stuff, using my newly hollowed out part.

Hope this info can help someone in the future.

Cheers!

Excellent write up man. It's good to see that hot rodding and originality is still alive. Anyone can buy a chinese piece of aluminum off ebay!
