This is true.

But couldn't an adapter plate be made to fit the Frontier/Xterra spd to the VK? What's the main difference between the 350Z/G35 6 spd and ours? Because I know all the Z guys needed to do was get an adapter plate made for their trannies to run with the VK's.

I believe the Jatco tranny is the same in the Titan as in the Z's.

And don't forget, the Infiniti VK45 ( 4.5L) is an option too. Seesm like there's been a few that have gone that route before the Vk56 came along.

Also, some of the Titan guys are running the 90mm (Corvette, IIRC) TB on their trucks.
They found it bolted up fine, just needed to make the DBW talk Japaneses, and off they went. The bigger TB helped with the under 40mph restriction from the factory.

Damn DBW...Damn factory!!

The reason for the 350z tranny is the adapter exists and clutches exist. I haven't looked into the tranny swap as far as speed sensors yet but the ratio should be:

Frontier
1st = 4.37
2nd = 2.52
3rd = 1.74
4th = 1.28
5th = 1.00
6th = 0.77

350z
1: 3.794:1
2: 2.324:1
3: 1.624:1
4: 1.271:1
5: 1.000:0
6: 0.794:1

I see. The ratios certainly makes sense to me (the 350Z having a closer ratio). My main question basically about the the difference of the actual "bolting up" of the trannies and what the difference is in that respect between the Z and the Fronty. If the Z tranny is slightly different in that respect, and its the only tranny with the adapter and clutch options, then 350Z 6 spd it is. There's no chance of fitting a 350Z adapter to out 6spds then is there...

The bell housing is different on the VQ40,VQ35 and VK56. Since you have 4 wheel drive you would have to look at moving to an automatic tranny. The swap would require drive shaft and transmission cross member modifications which would be simple.

My needs would be a complete vk56, 350z 6 speed, adapter, clutch and wiring. Should add an electric fan and some drive shaft modifications. List could go on for days, a titan intake should bolt right in(I know that I have gone the other way making things fit).

Ahh...that's what I was looking for about the bell housings. I know this may sound dumb, but how would me being 4WD require me to go with the Titan 5spd auto?

There currently would be no way to have the 6 speed in your truck live behind a 5.6 with a stock clutch. JWT does have an upgraded option but it is unproven.

Yah, I figured the stock clutch wouldn't last too long, but what I was trying to get at was asking how me being 4WD would hinder me from swapping in the 350Z 6 spd? IF that's what you were inferring.

There is no way to attach a transfer case.
