When I saw this truck in person at the L.A. auto show, I thought it looked better than the pictures. According to the rep, it should be available in the crew cab version as well. And the blower is an Eaton, and guess who owns Magnacharger.

I am not a ford guy nor will I ever be. When I first seen the pic of this truck I wasnt too crazy about the way it looked, however the more I look at it the more it grows on me. The General Really needs to build a standard cab Sport truck with over 400hp no over 450hp....

How many NA dodges or fords do you hear about running 12's, we've got alot of GM's in that range on this site.

Lightnings were running 12s before your 5.3 was ever made!!! I think you forgot that Lightnings came out in 93, not 99. As for bottom ends, I have only seen a handful of blown up lightnings since they've been in pruduction, and that's because people have dumped WAY too much boost, or WAY too much boost and way too much nitrous on top of the boost. And everyone of these fragged motors were blown up by the owners knowing perfectly well that they were going to blow because of their own error. On the other hand, I've seen too many blown up 5.3s and 4.8s than I can count on ten peoples hands and toes. Something about chevy making crappy, bearings, pistons, and rods?

You be surprised how many are now into the 12's. I did 12.7 @ 108 on street tires. Only mods were intake, ext and PCM flash. There are others out there. How many of those GM's in that range are NA and on stock tires?

You need to rethink those statements. The cast cracked rods in the 5.4 are......well junk! I have seen way to many ventelated blocks from these rods.
Boost is only a small factor as to why they frag. Detonation and sustained load is the real killer. Ive personally seen a stock blocked L run 10's and it wasnt till Frank was playing on the dyno to see how much it could take when it lifted a head......tune being the key! Ive also see a nearly stock engine with a bad tune punch holes through the block as the powder forged rods gave way. Tune is the single most important key to longevity with modular engines. The same can be said for the chevy and dodge guys as well.
I think you need to get that chip off your shoulder and try to educate your self be fore you attack.

As far as some other die hards here go Ill say this anything can be built to run its just a mater of how fast do you want to go and how deep are your pockets? Plain and simple.

I hope the haters here open there eyes cause even a honda can suprise you so think again and lets all learn from each other here and not bash.

Ive replaced the cast cracked rods with H beams on many Triton engines and have modded them well over 550rwhp with no problems what so ever.

Oh crap how did that last one get there??

Actually I think it is you who should read a little more carefully next time before you jump in with your frag damage stories. I also stated that people destroy motors because of THEIR OWN ERROR. I'm pretty darn sure that having a bad tune goes into the ERROR category.

Most of the first gens require boost to break 12's. There's a handfull running around here that can do it, but they're not as common as you think. As far as the 5.3 and your comment with that, you realize that the 5.3 is essentially a 327, which has been around since the 60's. Find me a Lightning that old.

As for bottom ends, I have only seen a handful of blown up lightnings since they've been in pruduction, and that's because people have dumped WAY too much boost, or WAY too much boost and way too much nitrous on top of the boost.
Then you obviously haven't been around enough Lightnings. The stock motors will take a dump on demand, let alone modded ones. Boost and Nitrous come into play, but not as much as you may think.

And everyone of these fragged motors were blown up by the owners knowing perfectly well that they were going to blow because of their own error.
Again, these motors will take a dump nearly on demand. Most people that blow em up don't know they're going until they're gone.

On the other hand, I've seen too many blown up 5.3s and 4.8s than I can count on ten peoples hands and toes. Something about chevy making crappy, bearings, pistons, and rods?
Ford does the same thing with the 5.4's, so don't be too quick to judge.

Actually, I think you better learn how to play nice on this site if you wanna last around here for very long. Your posts have been semi inflamitory since your first one. This isn't a Ford specific site. If you wanna bash other makes or other members, then feel free to find another forum to do so. It's not welcome here.

On the other hand, if you'd like to stick around and learn something and make some buddies that are enthusiasts, much like yourself, then you're more than welcome to do so. Just learn to get along. It's up to you.
