i need your help can someone tell me what all years of the sohc 4.6 will interchange? i have a 04 (heritage) f150 that i need to get another engine for and want to know if the long block out of other aplications will work like say something out of a crown vic? any and all info is appreciated.

 

like early 2000s should, just make sure its the 2 valve and i think you'll be ok

 

im wondering if the like 98 crown vic is the same motor.....not really specific but ya know

 

im pretty sure all the 2V motors were the same

 

not all 2 valve motors were the same, most of the mustangs and some crown vics got the romeo head motors



the romeo heads require different cam/valve covers than the windsors

 

I work for a salvage yard and it's been my expierience that rarely can you take a certain year windsor 4.6 and make it work in a different year. They are a pain in the a**, the Romeo motors are a little easier to work with, but not much. You also run into 6 and 8 bolt crank/flywheel pattern, 2 and 3 bolt starters on the earlier car motors. which motor do you have?

 

the truck is a 2004 ford f150 quad cab 4x4 4.6

 

if your looking at a motor swap then go with a 2 valve 5.4

 

you must be thinking of the PI to NPI motors...
