I'd actually love to try and build a DD friendly turbo setup. I would keep things very simple and go for maximum responsiveness. An S366 on a 5.3 non-intercooled with a 4" downpipe into a 3.5" catback (something that could stay more quiet than 4" stuff). TR6 spark plugs, stock cam, eveything else. Would make for an extremely fun setup I would imagine that could pump out 500 rwhp on 93.

I'm telling ya this 70mm stage 2 is on the money for DD 5.3 with pretty good power. The turbo kit, catch can, tune and vette servo was an amazing combo. Made over 400 wheel. Ran Low 13s. Towed like a dream. Looked and sounded amazing.

Im looking for 11's out of mine. My LB7 runs 12 on 35's so I'd be upset if the rcsb won't out run it. I figure truck will come in at 5200 lbs so 550rwhp ought to be sufficent for my goal. Can the stage 2 trick kit, 80 lb injectors, walbro 450 and a tripple 12 acheive this? Trans will be built with a complimentary converter to the turbo setup.

I want to hear about the non intercooled and stock cam. Also how much boost and what fuel and why? Thanks

Non-intercooled for much shorter piping and no pressure drop across an intercooler. All about the best turbo response essentially.

Stock cam just because I would be lazy and because aftermarket wouldn't be needed to reach 500 hp goal.

Would run straight 93 so I could fill up anywhere, and shoot for 10 psi.

Goal would be for the truck to be utterly stockish with around 250 rwhp added.

Doubt you'll get to 10psi with out some sort of cooling aid.
5-7psi would be doable.

I don't see how you could be UNhappy with a Trick kit LOL. Just get the turbo that matches what your truck is honestly used for and enjoy.

What do you think the IATs would be with no intercooler?

I would want a smaller turbo for faster spooling correct?

Im thinking that ether way if I go 6.0 or turbo 4.8 I will toss in a ISKY triple 12 cam. That is unless someone has better suggestions.

Sounds fun as hell. I remember the guy from Alvarado doing that E85 twin setup without IC. Believe it was ~ 500+ from a 5.3 maybe.

My vote is a turbo kit. I have a Trick stage 5 deal, which I see in't on the website anymore??? The kit was pretty good, I had to modify it because my truck is slammed, so I brought the cross over up 3" from what the kit was originally, BUT I have a TH400 that doesn't have a full bellhousing like the stock transmissions. Being a 4x4 and not slammed, you are in the clear I would say!
