I have long been debating on which kind of forced induction I would like. I can't stand how slow my 4.8 is and until I decide on which route to go I don't want to order anything. BLACK FRIDAY IS COMING!!!

So my question is will a stage 3 trick kit be satisfying to me?
Also what upgrades to the initial kit are worth it?(What turbo ect...)

I DD the truck almost everyday, I tow occasionally, I take it off road and on long road trips. So.....

What I want more of.
-Pwer in the normal driving range 1k-3krpm
-Good top end when I open it up I want it to fly.
-Upgradability (MOOORE POWWERR)
-Reliabilty Its my baby I'm not rich and cant afford a new motor on the drop of a dime.



What I dont really care about.
-Im not really chasing numbers (Yet!)
-Instalation both seem straight forward and eazy enough to do on a weekend.


I have been leaning towards a SC for the last few months Because I already have headers but the price of a Manguson is not cheap. I also think I will eventually want more then just 500whp or so.

So someone please tell me what to do with my $$$$$

 

With out some serious work to that 4.8 and spinning that crap out of a Maggie, you will unlikely see 500whp. Completely different story with a trick turbo kit

 

That's what I was worried about I eventually plan to swap in a 6.0. But I wanted to save that for later down the road after I get the suspension perfected and the drive train beefed up. Right now I really just want enough power to satisfy me while it undergos more Mods.

 

Well a 6.0 will be a lot cheaper then a Maggie and you won't be back tracking. When my 6.0 was pretty stock except for headers I was putting a length or 2 on 4.8 with maggies at a truck event down here.

 

Now you've got me looking for a 6.0 nearby.

That would probably be cheaper to.

 

If you're worried about $$$, you should think twice about turboing

For what you're describing I'd go with a TVS blower, but that's just me.

If you do go turbo, I'd recommend KBracing

 

Spike, KB, and Trick all make proven durable kits! You're deffinately gonna spend some $$$ though! Expect to spend nothing less than $2800-$3800 to get you going with a turbo setup, and that's with you doing the install.

 

weird stuff happens. if you cant afford to throw a junkyard motor at your truck, you should probably just leave it alone until you can.

 

The wants you're describing fit the bill for a Maggie perfectly - yeah they're not cheap, but it will yield you the most streetable ride IMO, although I may be a little biased. You could always look around for a used MP112 to start off and sell it when you decide to upgrade to the 6.0

 

I say buy a turbo kit.
