at only 12 lbs!!! The biggest reason for buying the kit (besides cool factor) was that I could run it at both low elevation where I live and at high elevation where it is best suited since it is a mountain sled. With the gasoline sled kits you run into the problem of needing ridiculous octane to run any kind of boost at low elevation, or you would need to change the head each time you wanted to ride a significantly different altitude. The propane sled you just run one head and octane burns like it is 105-110 octane so it has some det relief built in. I was able to run 10 lbs at 500 feet without problems and was just the number I decided on, could have pushed it further for sure.

What do you do about the crank seals on a FI 2-stroke?

No worries about crank seals, they hold up just fine. Only real engine modification was the head chambers were cut to a different profile to change the compression. amazing that the stock assembly can handle the horsepower, hoping to have the same luck with the 5.3. Hope the stock combustion chambers work well (hope the whole stock motor works well actually). Time will tell, should know tonight if this project is a go or if I have to keep looking for another truck.

Anyone know someone who has done this or tried it before? 4.8/5.3/6.0 turbo propane... Not a ton of info on the topic.

Flying to K.C. Mo. Wednesday to pick it up. Got a great deal on ebay and it sounds like a well cared for truck. Going to start a thread in the projects section too.

What's the stoich of running propane? Bunch of stock half ton trucks at the shipping docks run on propane because it's cheaper so I know it's not that big of a conversion.

Best of luck on the new project and welcome to the site. Lots of smart people on here.

I am pretty sure it's 15.5:1, though I have been told on a gauge made for gasoline it is still "14.7" since the gauge just makes 1.0 Lambda display 14.7. On the sled I was running it at a target of 11.5 on the gauge at wot under full boost.

What conversion setup are you going to use? Will it still have a gas option, or 100% propane?

All propane all of the time. Going to source parts from a variety of places, nobody's conversion kit really, just a combination of off the shelf parts and modifications to them as well as custom parts as needed. I just had a brainstorm last night for a carb hat but I'll have to get the intake and carb mounted to check hood clearance.
