Now i did use my airbag pump to fill a 2 gallon tank that i ran to my wastegate. I put a "T" in the line to the turbo so air wouldnt go that way. set my regulator to 15psi and added that to my wastegate to hold it open. Should have held it wide open.
I just never redid the tune so it would be dialed in right there at 99-105 kPa.

Gonna try that the next time i tow something and see how it does.

No problems towing 7000 lbs with mine. It's pretty hard on fuel though and I wish I had a normal torque converter when I do it.

I cheated on mine.. Even this stock 80E converter is pretty loose but i put a switch on my dash so i can lock it up whenever i want.. and my tune is setup not to lock up above 25% throttle.

With you not towing that often fi would be what you are looking for. My 5.3 in my avalanche did not have enough power bone stock with the stock tires to maintain 65 mph on the highway without unlocking the converter and downshifting constantly. We won't even get in to towing with it stock. Now with the tvs it rarely unlocks or downshifts even towing light loads of 3500lbs or less with 33" tires. It made a huge difference. Mpg has stayed about the same unloaded or towing with the 33's vs no tvs. I have 3:42 gears and I think I could benefit from some 4:10's to increase my mileage. My previous silverado with a mp112 and my current truck will lean on the supercharger Instead of downshifting which is a lot more enjoyable while towing. Again this is with light towing. I have not towed anything over 4k pounds or so.

get on a ford forum and check out all the guys complaing at their MPG. single digits towing and not so great even unloaded.
Especially if you plan on upgrading the wheels/tires... More rotating mass kills that v6 even with the turbos.

If that's all you're towing my vote goes to keeping your truck. It's already fixed up and any blower or turbo will make that 6.0l scare your hunting buddies
