Post Whipple question

So i did a little bit of searching and have come to this conclusion:

"Whipple's CS sucks badly" and "Not the best application for the 5.3L"

This i understand.

Wasn't looking to drop the coin that a new or used supercharger new seem to be bringing. Well I came across a used kit, believe once was on a members here (not sure the member), for a good price. Kit supposedly has 5,000 miles on it and comes with everything it needs.

So basically wanting to know what I should look at to make sure it'll work, or some warning signs of abuse (I obviously don't want to be talking with CS )? The kit is half of a used magna charger, so this is what sparked my interest.

Not looking for low track times or anything, as I won't be taking it to the track. Just looking for something that will wake it up for DD'ing

Sounds like he found a used whipple for half the price of a used Radix if I read that correctly, and is looking for opinions on what to look for/check over to make sure it is in good shape/complete.

Good call, I just reread it, thats is what he is saying..

I would seriously wait to find a maggie kit if thats what you want(roots style) or save up some more.. Whips havn't had a great track record with their CS or there products with GM vehicles... Unless it is a complete kit I would wait.. Prob a reason why your getting it for less then half...

I heard about their customer service, but not about problems with their products on GMs. Please fill me in, you have me worried about the reliability of my blower. It has close to 50,000 miles on it, maybe I should take it off before it's too late?

Not per say they are junk or no good. But I from all I have read alot of people are not happy with the gains they see from the kit.. Thats all if your a happy camper keep it on.

The actual compressor is a solid unit.If you customize the kit to fit your needs then its a solid performer.
We need more info bout what you got to help though.Maybe some pics will help us.

If you don't already know, you just change injectors and get a tune for the blower, you don't use any of Whipple's electronics, and don't splice their wires.
The problem is, is, without intercooling or alcohol injection, it only gives you a little more bottom end power, if any. It really only just makes up for the drag that spinning it creates.
If you don't want to run meth or spend some time addding an intercooler, the extra cost for an intercooled maggie might deserve your consideration.
