Default Whipple Pulley?

I know the newer intercooled Whipple 2.3L is a rarity around here on the GM trucks, but I’m trying to get the boost up on my bosses cammed 6.2L and am looking for a 3.125” pulley. Whipple states that while they will make them there is no telling when, as they are in kit making form and until they get caught up with that too bad, check back from time to time. Now there is plenty of aftermarket support for Whipple’s as installed on Mustang’s and such, but it seems as no one knows whether or not if the back-spacing is the same for the GM truck versions and the others, so no one can say whether or not it will be a direct fit. Does anyone out there know for sure? One would think it would be pretty simple to take the pulley off the truck measure it and get the same information from a vendor and know for sure, but guess what, it doesn’t seem like there are too many people on the other end of a phone that get that whole process down and fewer yet that may be willing to actually take the time to do so.

What kind of boost is your bosses truck making now? 3.125" should give about 10-12psi right? I have a 3-5/8" pulley sitting around. I can get a back spacing off of it, though it will be tomorrow morning before I can measure it.

With the 3.625” he is only getting around 5.5 - 6#’s with the cam, and while he did have a 3.375" pulley sized like yours it wasn’t a Whipple pulley and it had the wrong offset nor did it have the raised belt guards and tore through the belt pretty quick. With it boost was about 7.5 - 8#’s, so yes I feel like the 3.125” should put it in the 10# or slightly over range. He has a new Whipple 3.375” pulley on the way to put him back at the pulley size it was tuned for and unless we can find another that will work, he just may have to wait until one is made for it. I tried to contact Reichard Racing a few times a day for several days and all I could get was an answering machine that you couldn’t leave a message on due to it being full, so I wonder if they are like a lot of companies now and out of business. I do appreciate the offer to measure yours though and would welcome the info, as at least it would save pulling the one off the truck and maybe I get someone to tell me what an off-the-shelf pulley measures out for a Cobra or whatever with a Whipple.

Sorry about the delay. I had a crazy morning and forgot all about it. I'll make it priority as soon as I get home tonight.

No problem at all. I don't know if the measurement will actually do us any good, but being informed and being able to talk to the manufactures intelligently sure won't hurt any.

Thanks again.

Perhaps the most simple "fix" right now would be a powerbond OD for a 2010 camaro. Givent the size pulley he is running he would proably pick up 2-2.5#s with that swap. Theyre fairly inexpensive at less than $300 and would allow you to run the current whipple supplied 3-5/8 which should be right around your 10# target range in conjunction with the OD crank pulley.

Maybe contact Brian (BlownChevy) at supercharger connection. Worth a shot, right?

It’s an idea that if all else fails would work, but it would be a shame to have to spend twice what it should (even though the Powerbond isn’t too pricey), not to mention the stock balancer has already been pinned.

PS: Have you put that exhaust to use yet?
