Whipple/Kenne Bell CAI?
#1
Does anyone have a CAI on a whipple or kenne bell setup? My kenne bell has the filter infront of the pass. side inner fender well and I dont like it. With the roads and weather around here the filter gets nasty real quick. I have a volant that I am trying to make work and just wondered if anyone else has a CAI on there setup.. If so do you have any pics. I know I can make it work but just wondering if anyone has any pics to maybe give me a idea I havent thought of. thanks

Recently I picked up a KB from an 01 and will be installing it in an Escalade (04) next month. I am looking at modifying the stock air box, opening a hole in the bottom and adapting a cold air piping from there to down by the fog lamp.
I feel that way I get the protection from the stock system from most road dust and cold air access during acceleration.

Ya that should work but I dont have any available openings in the front valance for a ram air setup, plus that is actually what I am trying to avoid. My fog lamp openings are sealed with the foglights and my intercooler takes up all the main valance opening.
Also if you got a KB from a 01 then you will have to make sure that you have the additional 90 degree metal elbow that mounts to the blower inlet and the throttle body attaches to it, if not the throttle body will not fit without denting in the firewall to make room. The 01's were cable throttle body where at the 04's are drive by wire (DBW)

Thanks for the 90 deg suggestion. I still have the TB from the 01 and was debating to change to Cable drive...
Yave you looked at the Volant Ram air extention and adding it to the stock box. I believe they make one for the Denali/Sierra.

The KB inlet piping will not line up with the stock box or a aftermarket one, I can make it work with some creativity but was just looking to see if anyone else has done it. Also I have no where to put the inlet on the air extention, its made to go by the fog lights or behind the main front opening. That will NOT work with mine so it defeats the purpose of getting the ram air tube if it cannot be placed someone where it can have air ramed into it. ALso like I already mentioned I dont want a setup like that. The kenne bell filter location works fine and I think it works well but I dont like it due to conditions where I live....

Hey, how about a couple tight shots of the inside of your engine bay to get some brainstorming going? I tried your "pictures" link buts its not working for me.
