A 2.3L twinscrew is going to have a pretty strong top end on a 5.3L. It's also going to have a pretty strong low end.....and a pretty strong mid range. In a 5.3L, it won't have all that brutal low end torque that the folks that don't have it complain about. Hmmmm. How much power are you trying to get out of your 5.3?

Many Lightnings run low 11's and better with 2.3s. They feed a 5.4 just fine so they would a 5.3 as well. Top end is where a screw does better than a Roots but not as good as a belt driven turbo. My .02.

I would go with an intercooled Whipple setup over a Procharger any day. I had a 2.3 Whipple on my stock 6.0 in my Yukon Denali and it pulled hard throughout the power band including the top end. I would have gone with a Procharger on my current motor if I felt it would have had better results but you can't beat the power delivery of a Twin Screw blower.

I have a Procharged p1, 07 gms sierra classic with a 4l60. I put 60lbs injectors in for room to grow and keep down duty cycles! THE kit call for 42 but 42 and 60 are about the same price, around 500 on ebay. The truck has 35" Mt on R20 and still put down 380 to the tires and around 500 at the enigne. my trans went out around 3,000 miles AT 8psi so under any boost you are on borrowed time with the 4l60. with that said at 8psi around 3,000-6,000rpms the truck is a beast. I'm happy with what I got but it all starts as its not going to be a project truck but about 10 grand in trans, headers, exhaust, meth and labor it quickly was!

I strongly disagree with the Whipple lacking top end power. My truck (2012 5.3)ran 11.9 @ 117 mph last year with the whipple 2.3, meth, and headers. Now find another 4wd truck that trapped 117 mph with an 11.9 ET... This clearly justifies some impressive top end power... Just saying...
Check my build thread for more information if you like, the link is in the bottom of my sig.
