Where To Spray The Meth
#1
Can anyone tell me where the IAT sensor is on an '04 5.3? I'm installing a methanol kit and am being told 2 stories. 1. Place the meth nozzle before the MAF. 2. place the nozzle after the MAF before the TB(cause the IAT is in theTB?). If the IAT is IN the TB, then option 2 is the answer.
Here's my problem. If you spray methanol (a flammable liquid) onto the live wires of the MAF, won't it F' up the signals. Don't those wires produce heat?

Both SMC and Snow Performance tell you to inject it as close to the entrance of the throttle body as you can. That would be AFTER the MAF and IAT on my Ford, and should be on your Chevy. I wouldn't spray before the MAF, too easy to throw off the airflow readings.

The IAT is integrated into our MAF sensors on the GM's although some guys have relocated to get better temperature readings with there blower setups. The MAP is on the back of the intake manifold also so there is no way to spray after that.
How is the MAP sensor setup on the Fords? I don't understand how it could get a good reading if it's not on the intake manifold which would be after your TB.

Sorry!
I meant MAF, there is no MAP on the Lightnings. That's from my speed density days!Jody

You want in before your IAT or the PCM will be pulling timing unnecessarily. I moved my IAT sensor to my intake tube an inch past the meth nozzle (which is 3 inchs from my tb). It cost about $20 and took 5 minutes.

That's a good idea. The Lightnings have two IAT's and the second one is after the intercooler in the lower intake runner. That's the one that adds/subtracts timing.

So spraying before the MAF is alright?? I have a larger 625 nozzle after the MAF and I want to put a smaller 325 nozzle before the MAF. I was thinking that the meth would cause some screwy sensor probs.
