Default What radix pulley to run?

I am looking for suggestions on what pulley to run on my 112. My motor is a 5.7l with WCCH stage 2 LS1 heads. The compression is about 9.5:1, it will also have a stage 2 snow performance injection kit. I have a aftermarket intercooler on it for a Ford Lightning.I would like to run as much boost as I can but I'am concerned about the IAT's with a 2.8. I currently have a 3.0 pulley and don't know what the IAT's were. Looking for advice from those that have been there done that with the more boost from smaller pulleys vs higher IAT's from a smaller pulley. I have searched old treads but couldn't come up with a sure answer for my question.

I would go with a 2.8 or 2.9.. Running more timing with a bigger pulley usually makes more power with the radix.

Thanks for the link. That tread showed that more boost/less timeing was the way to go and keep atleast 15 degrees of timeing. I am still curious about a smaller pulley makeing more boost vs IAT's raiseing equaling more or less power. Or if the meth injection kit will cool IAT's enough that I shouldn't worry about a smaller pulley. Before I ran a 3.0 pulley without the injection kit. So maybe running a smaller pulley with the meth the IAT's may stay the same as the 3.0 without the meth injection?

I am also debating a pulley swap on my truck. The only pulley I have used is a 3.2 on a 6L. That got me 130* IAT with 75* ambient (no meth). Where is the best source for a steel pulley? I am looking for a 2.9.

I belive Magnuson sells the 2.9 pulley in steel.

I run a 2.75 pulley on my 6L. I have no meth. I still run 18-19* of timing at WOT and no KR. Of course my air temps are pretty high. I've never run a full 1/4 mile to see what they are at the end of a run. 130*-140* playing on the street.

I would take more boost over timing, but the radix climbs outside its effeciency range really fast. I know this because I tried a 3.0 pulley on my 5.3 a few years ago and had a whole bunch of problems. Could only run like 12 degrees of timing. I pullied back up to a 3.25, and had something like 20 more rwhp with 17 degrees of timing.

I think your going to fight high IAT's in the summer with the 2.8 or smaller. Also, the smaller pulley is going to have higher initial intake temps before you even get into boost. If I didnt have meth, I would not run anything smaller than a 3.0

Meth injection will help keep IAT's in check. I would also look at your fuel system. Anything smaller than a 3.0 pulley is going to max out the injectors pretty fast.

These are my opinions only...

You can get them from Magnacharger. I got a factory Magnacharger one from Underpressure Motorsports.

as long as you can keep the iat's under control, more boost and moderate timing is the way to go IMO. (as long as your motor can take the boost) You have 60's coming eh? cool...your non-return fuel system would of pissed ya off with the 42's and anything under 3.0 on the pulley.

A pulley swap compared to other mods is fairly easy, get your meth setup and injectors running BEFORE you pully down. Get a grip on how it works for ya. This way once you do the smaller pulley, you'll know instantly if you are gonna like it. A 2 stage snow performance kit, you'll be fine. Like j's says though, the radix will run out of steam eventually. I love your setup in your sig. I am envious except for the weight.

As far as the poll, I am for stay with the pulley you have and install your new mods first. But I went from a 3.0 to a 2.8 though. It's a nice difference. The 2.9 isn't enough IMO from the 3.0. So 2.8 if you are gonna do it.
