Default What Are Performance Cam Side Effects?

So lets say I have a Radix'd L33 with OE cam and decide to do a cam swap to one worth the trouble but not a hot drag race cam.

What are the side effects these days. I'm a old fogie who used to run solid lift cams back in the day and know well of the side effects when not WOT.

With today's computer driven ignitions and fuel delivery systems how would a slightly above mild cam behave when not WOT such as idling, gas mileage in comparison to the OE cam under normal law abiding drivin?

Also, would the vacuum be effected enough to screw with the Radix bypass?

LPE GT2+3

Will idle like stock, and add a nice amount of power up top.

With the right cam, you won't notice any "side effects" when just cruising around.

The side effects are increased horsepower, higher revving engine, same fuel economy, slightly choppier idle, better throttle response, and lower e.t.'s.

First thing to remember..................forget everything that was a concern in the "old fogie" days, as 99% of them don't apply to these new style engines. The LPE GT2-3, or GT7 cams are both great performers, and you most likely won't even know they are in there until you mash it. There's lots of new lobe designs just coming out that may, or may not be the ticket. I'm going to be trying one of the new Comp LSL designs on my TVS 1900 project going together right now.

side effects . . . bald rear tires, more gas, wanting to race everyone, wanting to go bigger . . . leads to faster bald rear tires.

yeah like stated above, the blower cams like the LPE cams mentioned offer stock or even better than stock idle and putting around reliability, performance. With higher lift, extended duration and wide separation angles you won't really even notice it.

wkdivr, what are some of the specs on those new cams?
