I just got all mine re-done. It has stock manifolds to a catless y-pipe, then goes into the turbo. Then out of the turbo it starts as 3 inch steps to 3.5 and then 4 inch with no muffler.Everything is powder coated black also even the exhaust housing on the turbo. Its pretty loud but just driving down the road with the windows up its not bad at all.

Ive got a 3inch dp to a cutout then 3 inch exhaust all the way out the back with a cheap-o flowmaster type muffler ( accelerator) It sound pretty good with the cutout closed its loud enough to hear, but not annoying. With the cutout open its really loud and gains about 1 more lb of boost.

I think its the opposite. I went from dual 2.5 to single 4 on my truck and it got a lot quieter. Before I had a di/do 18" magnaflow, now I have a single 12" bullet. So less muffler, bigger pipe, and its quieter.

Straight 4 inch, no muffler, turned down behind the cab.

I have 3 inch from the get mount into a 2 chamber flowmasyer exiting through a stock 3 inch tailpipe in the original location. It's not loud unless you are in it real hard

Duramax exhaust from what cab/bed configuration? How easily do they install in a 1500 series truck like ours? I've got a rcsb and I want to run a 4" and was contemplating a 4" duramax exhaust setup.

Just dont run anything smaller then what the exhaust outlet is and youll be fine. Its all preference really and what your future mods might be. If you want mellow while driving stay 3" all the way back and throw a cutout in if you want to be LOUD.

I plan on running 3" with no muffler and dump it just over the axle. Will be easy enough to add a small bullet or race muffler if thats too annoying when cruising.
