Question What can I expect from a cam & head work?

I have a 5.3 with a 4" pulley on a P1. I make 8-9 #'s through the 2 core procharger horizontal IC. The valve covers have never been off the engine.

What can I expect from a cam change and some clean up work on the heads?

I'm not looking to go crazy, just some more power with out driveability going away.

Definitely do not want to go to a smaller pulley and get into belt slip again.

For fuel, I have 42# injectors and a boost-a-pump. Will that be sufficient for a bit more power?

Thanks in advance.

Spoke to a tuner today and he told me that since I already have a pretty free flowing exhaust if I flow more through the heads I might have to put a smaller pulley on the P1. He couldn't give me a guestimate. Anyone?

I am guessing around 40-60 h.p.

Spoke with a couple of sponsors and was told from 40 to as much as 70 possible horses.

One guy told me to save my $ and put a 6 liter in instead. Unfortunately, that is not in the cards now.

Not sure what will happen to the torque. I don't want the torque curve to suffer too much on the bottom to mid range.

Do I have enough fuel for this or will I need upgrades?

I would do the cam and pulley now and see where that takes you. If you don't have any methanol injection than you will be soon out of injector.

Not going to go any smaller on the pulley, don't want--really hate--belt slip.

How many wheel hp will 42# injectors safely fuel in this mild FI application?

I think somewhere around 450 to 500HP the 42's will be close to 100% duty cycle.
