I bought the Volant as well. The polyethylene airbox is warped and the lid didn't seal well...needed thicker foam seal tape to seal properly. I also bought the snorkel which is nice.

At one point the snorkel fell off (likely my fault for not tightening the coupler clamps tight enough). I contacted Volant to purchase a replacement sillicone coupler with clamps and they sent them to me free of charge! For this reason alone I would get the Volant again...GREAT customer service.

Second the Airaid. No complaints with mine. Yes it will work without the SC.
