WARNING to Bosch 044 owners

Just a little heads up to guys running Bosch 044 pumps on stock wires. This past week, sharpshooter and I rewired our pumps using 10 gauge wire and 40 amp relays. When we dropped sharpshooter's tank, the stock power wire was melted pretty bad. It was also causing other wires near it to melt. If the wire got hot enough to melt the coating, I don't know how much more it would have took to ignite the gas in the tank. We bought pump rewiring kits from Jayracing. They come with really high quality 10 gauge wires, a 40 amp relay, 14 gauge wire for grounding the relay, a fused power wire for the relay, wire ties, and various connectors. Again, just a heads up to those of you who may be running these pumps on stock wiring.

I'm glad I did mine to begin with, because with my luck it would have burnt my truck to the ground. That wiring kit is good quality though, and that's the only place I could find the check valve for that pump.

Yeah, we thought we could get away with using the stock wires. We just recently put smaller pulleys on our prochargers, and as a result, the pump wasn't keeping up in the upper rpm's. We ran the bigger wires, thinking the pump was drawing too many amps for the stock wiring. I'm glad we did!

No ? Bout it the gas would've ignited had there been enough o2.
In all honesty people should always run the correct gauge wire when installing a more powerful pump.I to learned in the same manner.

Yeah, just thought I would throw this thread up as a caution to anyone trying to get away with running the pump on stock wires like we were.
