i'm asking this for a friend who's having problems with his blower install.
the car is a 2010 camaro with the L99, and he just installed a Maggie TVS2300 he bought used from a shop. it was only used for about a month & swapped for a whipple because the previous owner didn't think it whined enough!
anyway, he got everything installed & had a canned tune from Magnuson til he can get it dyno tuned. got it started last night and ran fine for about a minute then started smoking progressively more and the idle starts to slowly drop. then it starts surging & dies.
does anybody have any ideas on what could be going on here?
here's his build thread - start with post #536

tune's from Magnuson for a 2010 camaro with an L99. don't know fuel pressure - he don't have a gauge, but it's using the stock pump (which many people've been able to do with no issues). i can't remember if he swapped injectors or not, but he's running whatever came with the blower. no info on any codes - it won't stay running long enough to generate any

Ok, I may be way off but there may be issues with the tune:
1. It was designed for a 6.2L and your buddies truck is a 5.3L?
2. Was the OS used for the camaro the same as the one for the truck?
GM uses a lot of different Operating Systems in there PCM's, hell his truck may not even have the same PCM.
*Try removing the maggie tune, and replacing the stcok tune and see if it idles any better.
*DONT DRIVE AROUND OR PUT THE ENGINE UNDER ANY BOOST.
Contact the shop and get the invoice number for the blower and call Magnuson to see if the tune in that hand held will even move your buddies truck.
They are open another hour I think, so hurry.

You can not put the stock tune back in it with the larger injectors. Sounds like it may be dieing out when it goes into closed loop. Is it throwing any codes? Do you have any guage info, boost/vac, wideband etc....

What color is the smoke? If black, I am betting a mismatch between the actual injector in the car and whats in the tune. You can do what 1SlowHoe mentioned and load the stock tune in to see if it idles (presuming the stock size injectors are in the car). If it does, you have you culprit.

Based on the video in his link its just steam on cold start. It was said it has no smell either so thats what I have to assume it is.
If a stock tune was installed with 44lb or higher injectors it would literally drip fuel out of the exhaust pipe.

this. ^^
he bought a camaro supercharger and put it on his camaro
one weird thing about it is that it does this every time he starts it. it'll run fine for a minute then do the smoke/surge/die

i'll mention the stock reload (if he's using the stock injectors)
