Default TVS1900, Whipple 2.3, TVS2300, and Whipple 2.9

Discuss...

How does a Whipple compare to a TVS in terms of low end hp/tq, high end hp/tq, efficiency, max hp/tq, reliability, towing, and having fun on the street.

Is the 2.3 Whipple more comparable to the TVS1900 or TVS2300?

Owners, if you could do it again, what system would you go with?

Do you know the difference in how the twin screw and roots blowers make boost?

In general the twin screw tends to be more efficient than the roots blower when they are pushed hard. The new TVS is far superior to the older style roots blowers.

The whipple SHOULD be better with IAT's but I have not seen anything that really shows that to be the case.

IMO I would go with the TVS2300 or the Whipple 2.9. I tend to be biased to the TVS units because I own one.

If it wasnt a max effort build I would be looking at the used 2.3 whipple or the TVS 1900 on a 6.2.

I know in theory the 2.9 should be more capable than the TVS 2300 is but I havent seen anything that shows it making far superior numbers.

My Whipple 2.9 runs pretty cool. I'll have to post up some of the logs. It doesn't feel as good as the little 112 off idle, but only running about 8-9 psi. I think this blower needs to be in 12 plus psi range to feel real good. It pulls pretty hard up top though.

I think it has a lot to do with blower RPM in this case. You were spinning the 112 a hell of a lot faster to hit the same boost range.

The 112 also hits harder off the bottom than even the newer TVS units do, so it is definitely a combination of the 2 factors.

now if only the radix would have the same IAT's as the bigger brother that would be awesome.

Do it all over again...

I would skip the PD blower experience all together. But that is me and my goals were not met with my unit. For fun little street car that was easy to bolt together, the Whipple worked good.

TVS2300 or 2.9 Whipple would be my choice out of the ones listed.
