Default Turbocharged big block

Is this feasible? Turbocharged big block in older than 1975 chevy 1/2 ton set up for the street with 4wheel drive to help launch. Want to avoid having to pass smog in california so it needs to be older model.

Would like more than 700 rwhp. Would like to beat the fast motorcycles up to 80 mph.

Sure, you can turbo anything. Cost would depend upon your goals, skills and resoures. Theres tons of room under the hood in those older trucks.

700rwhp should be simple with a big block and turbo.

Fabrication will be the biggest hurdle I'd think.

Pick up this months issue of Car Craft. There is a 69 camaro with a 477 BBC and a couple of cheap hair dryers on a blow through carb set up. Very tempting for me to do on my old vette.

yeah 700rwhp wouldnt be that huge of a task from a turbo'ed BBC, i agree that fabrication would probably be your biggest hurdle but theres a shitload of room in them old trucks

Oh yeah, this car is definitely a good example of a F/I BB.

I was thinking of getting hopefully well over 500 cubic inches, and a good intercooler. I wanted a Chevelle but was told the engine bay is ok for the big block but not with the turbo. If I get the 1/2 ton truck, I was hoping to go 4 wheel drive (street only) by getting a heavy duty front differential and transfer case. That would help it get off the line. I want it to be fast enough to take out fast motorcycles at least up to 80 mph. Or would the Chevelle with a small block and an intercooled turbo would be faster? I think the Chevelle would probably have major traction problems.

If oyu kept the truck light then the truck cause you would have traction the chevelle wouldnt. From a roll the chevelle would be faster. In my truck I can take corvettes and camaros all day long through first gear but after that they murder me for the most part and this is of course with the nitrous on. Its just sad without it but not for long.

A buddy of mine has a 69 ford pickup with a procharged 429 blow through carb setup. The truck has been 8.90 @ 154 in the 1/4 on ET Street and weighing 4070 pounds. It is driven on the street, in fact, if you go to Cruisin the Coast you will see this truck. Here is a couple pics
