I've been hesitant to wrap my exhaust since I've heard it causes your pipes to rust and be replaced almost yearly due to holding in moisture and stuff. Any truth to that? Any tips to help them last longer?

I had my STS pipes wrapped for almost 2 years before I switch my setup around and I lived in WY where we saw every kind of weather you can imagine. I even wrapped the all the pipes on my front mount. When I took them off there was not any real sign of rusting. Besides, your stock pipes are made of stainless any way. Even if it were to rust to the point of needing to be replace it, I can't imagine it happening in anything less then 5 years and it might cost what, a couple hundred bucks to replace??? Definitely worth it in my opinion.

not to hijack thread, but I have a STS...what is the best exhaust wrap to get?

I too have a 60-1. I would attempt to up the boost a lb or two before moving to heads or new turbo.

When I did the STS, I just used the cheapest fiberglass header wrap I could find on Ebay. After 2 years, it was starting to fray and come apart in some areas, and really could have used a re-wrap or just a second coat over the fraying area. When I built the front mount, I warped all of it with DEI wrap and it seemed like MUCH better wrap and 7 months later is showing no sign of fraying anywhere. I also used there silicone spray paint stuff both on the pipes and the wrap after I put it on. It's supposed to help it last even longer and resist water even more.

before...

After 2 years, You can see the fraying on the y-pipe

DEI spray and wrap
